This year the Children and Youth services is participating in the Silver Birch reading program (Forest of Reading program) held by the Ontario Library Association for the first time. This reading program brings an excellent selection of recent Canadian children's books to the attention of Ontario children. It rewards them for reading by making them the judges in a province-wide event. Through the participation of the children, the Silver Birth Awards encourages Canadian wirting, Canadian authors and the improvement of reading skills.

How to participate
We encourage all children (grades 3-6) to read at least 5 of the nominated books and come to the library to vote for their favouirte book on April 23rd. Here is a list of nominated books and the books are on the display right now at the children's area. The loan period for these books will be 2 weeks instead of 3.
